Cleveland CycleWerks has made its foray in the Indian market with the launch of the Ace and the Misfit. The American motorcycle brand has introduced these classic motorcycles in a market space dominated by Royal Enfield.
The Ace is an old-school streetbike with a traditional teardrop fuel tank and minimalistic styling. Subtle touches of chrome and the graphics on the tank give it an elegant appeal. At its heart is a 229.5cc single-cylinder engine, producing 15.4bhp and 16Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a five-speed transmission. There are three variants of the Ace – standard, Ace Cafe and the Ace Scrambler.
The Misfit Gen II on the other hand, is a sportier offering. The engine is a 223cc unit, which delivers 16.1bhp and 18Nm of torque. It gets a café racer styling thanks to the sculpted fuel tank, low clip-on handlebars and an aggressive riding position.
For its venture in India, Cleveland CycleWerks has tied up with Laish-Madison Motorwerks. The initial lot of motorcycles will be imported from China through CKD route and assembled in Pune. The company will start manufacturing motorcycles locally once the factory becomes operational. Besides the Ace and the Misfit, Cleveland also had a couple of other international models on display. The company plans to eventually launch these in the Indian market.
